Getting Started
Interface
Overview of the main areas of the PhotoWorker window.
Window areas
- Tab bar — at the top. Each tab is a separate folder with its own state. Hovering over an inactive tab for half a second shows a preview with 4 photos
- Toolbar — below the tabs. Sorting, filters, thumbnail size, search
- Gallery — the main work area with the photo grid
- Navigator (⌘N) — folder tree on the left. Shows drives, volumes, and folders from the Finder sidebar
- Face panel (F) — face crops of the current photo on the right
- Status bar — at the bottom: total photo count, selected count, and their combined size. When a filter is active — how many photos are hidden
Toolbar
- Sorting — by date, name, size, rating, color, similarity, and more
- Filters — by color, stars, faces, format, orientation
- Thumbnail size — S / M / L / XL, or ⌘+ / ⌘−
- Search (⌘F) — by file name or AI tags
- Camera — filter by camera model. The first 5 models are shown as buttons (automatically from EXIF), the rest in a +N dropdown. The "NO" button filters photos with no camera data
- Web gallery — gallery button (appears if a gallery has been created for the current folder); click opens details
The "Show all subfolders" toggle is visible on the tab when subfolders contain images or recursive mode is already enabled.
Gallery
The main work area. Performs smoothly even with tens of thousands of photos. Each card shows a preview, a color label at the top, and a star rating. Cards of photos not yet indexed are marked with a badge.
Status bar
At the bottom of the window: total photo count, number of selected photos, and their combined size. When a filter is active — it shows how many photos are hidden out of the total.
